Bison Pep Band

ROOOOOOLLLLL HEEEEERRRRDDD!!!!

Filled with school pride and an infectious energy, the Bison Pep Band is a fan favorite game day experience at any athletic event. Performances are primarily at home Men's and Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball games, along with appearances at select Women's Soccer games, Men's Wrestling, Indoor Track and Field meets, and more!

Outside of home games, the Bison Pep Band also travels to select athletic events, such as the NCAA DI Basketball Tournament, as well as performing across campus and the Fargo area.

Instrumentation

The Bison Pep Band's instrumentation consists of:

  • Piccolo
  • Clarinet
  • Alto Saxophone
  • Tenor Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Mellophone
  • Baritones
  • Trombones
  • Sousaphones
  • Full Battery Percussion(drum set is used at select events)

NDSU Athletics provides the Bison Pep Band with ample space to accommodate a sizable band across all events hosted at NDSU, so there are no restrictions on how many spots are available for an instrument at home games.

GSMB Color Guard Members can also cheer on our athletic teams as a part of the Bison Pep Band.

Bison Pep Band Requirements

Outside of showing up and bringing your Bison Pride, here are the requirements to be a part of the Bison Pep Band.

Membership

The Bison Pep Band is open to ALL NDSU students. The only requirements for membership are:

  • You are a member of the Gold Star Marching Band for the current academic year, or...
  • You are currently enrolled in any active school ensemble.
Attendance

As a volunteer band, there are no auditions to join, and there are no attendance requirements for members of the Bison Pep Band.

Members are free to show up to play at any NDSU Athletics event that the band is performing at.*

Performance Expectations

Members are expected to wear a GSMB polo and khakis in the stands, unless the band is following an event's theme.

As representatives of North Dakota State University, members  are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times.

*Select events, such as the NCAA DI Basketball Tournament, have a limited amount of seats open to the band. For these events, there may be auditions or additional requirements to attend, such as mandatory rehearsals and event attendance.
