Meet José Romero!

José Romero, an Idaho native, is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree student at North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Saxophone Performance. He is currently a teaching assistant for the NDSU music program. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Idaho State University (ISU) and a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Montana. Romero’s primary instructors include Dr. John Masserini and Dr. Shandra Helman at ISU in Pocatello Idaho, Dr. Johan Eriksson at the UM, and Dr. Matthew Patnode at NDSU.

Romero is currently working as the adjunct woodwind instructor at the University of Jamestown (2021-Present), Eckroth Music (2021-Present), and has spent summers working as the saxophone and clarinet instructor at the International Music Camp (2022 & 2023). Romero has been working with the GSMB since the fall of 2018 in the capacity of a woodwind technician.

Romero has been involved with several music organizations including a member (and founding father) of ISU’s chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi (2013), a service-oriented music fraternity, North American Saxophone Alliance (2013), honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma (2018), a service music sorority, and the College Music Society (2018).
